Miami Northwestern High School has been bogged down with scandals that there was fears that the team would not even play this season. The scandal started when Northwestern star running back Antwain Easterling, at 19 himself a young adult,had sex with that underage 14-year-old girl in a school bathroom. A the head coach and other school officials try and cover up the incident since Northwestern was state champions last season and didnt want there record tarnished and since Easterling was the star athlete he was allowed to play in the championship game even though he wasnt suppose too.
Miami Northwestern senior defensive tackle Marcus Forston walked triumphantly across the field at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Saturday night wearing a black cowboy hat and pointed at the stands and pumped his fists. Forston pointed at Bulls fans who watched Northwestern stake its claim to the nation's unanimous No. 1 ranking Saturday night after beating Southlake Carroll 29-21. The nearly 4,000 fans who made the trek from Miami created a swath of blue and gold that divided the green-clad Southlake Carroll fans who made up the rest of the 31,896 in attendance. By the end of Saturday night's game, as the Dragons' fans began leaving the stadium, the Northwestern band could be heard loud and clear on the field. The Bulls also heard the familiar voice of Bulls alumnus and longtime public address announcer at Traz Powell Stadium, Willie Wilcox, who shouted play-by-play and commentary through a voice amplifier he brought to the stadium. Even before Northwestern's arrival at Miami International Airport on Sunday night, its fans returned from Dallas on other flights still sporting their team gear and brought copies of the Dallas newspapers that recapped the team's victory. Northwestern was happy to see one spectator in particular, its former head coach Roland Smith. After the game, several players said they dedicated the victory to Smith, who was removed from his position in early July. Months before his dismissal, Smith ordered the all-black uniforms the Bulls wore for the first time Saturday night.
