R. Kelly Acquitted of All Charges!

R. Kelly is now a free man in the eyes of the law, as the R&B singer was found not guilty of child pornography charges today (June 11). The singer was facing up to 15 years if convicted for charges related to an infamous videotape which allegedly featured R. Kelly having sex with an underage girl. The trial went to the jury on Thursday evening. Deliberations lasted for over seven hours today, before jurors acquitted Kelly, 41, on charges that he videotaped himself engaged in sexual acts with his 13-year-old niece. The verdict marks the end of the four-week trial. Neither Kelly, nor the alleged victim testified during the trial, but both denied their involvement in the sex tape to a grand jury in 2002. Defense lawyers maintained that Kelly was not the man on the tape and that the girl seen in the video is not the 13-year-old, but a prostitute. Defense attorneys also said that R. Kelly has a large mole on his back and the man in the tape didn’t, proof that the tape was doctored.

After a few years hiatus from Gays Days in Orlando, I decided to head back to the home of Mickey and party at Disney World with all the rest of the gay World. I always remembered in years past, Gay Days being mostly a white gay event with a sprinkle of brown skin tones mixed in. I was pleasantly surprised to see more of the brothas decided to come down and join in the fun. Gay Days organizers even added the Soul Lounge party which resembled the primarily black parties of the Winter Music Conference in South Beach. Remarkably local Orlando news even took noticed that this world-renowned event was more internationally and culturally diverse than in years past. Kudos to Gay Days for getting with the program!

I started off my Gay Days on Thursday after flying up from Miami, at the club Mannequins, in Downtown Disney. And what can I say but WOW! This was the best club I have ever been too, gay or straight, in the US, and honey I have been to a lot of clubs. I guess I was kind of turned off when my Orlando friends told me that I needed to be in line at 5:30 in the afternoon to even get a chance of getting into the club which opened at 8pm. And yes, I was there at 5:30pm and yes the line was LONG and the boys were out. But when I entered the club, I could understand why everyone and their mamas was trying to get in. Incredibly cheap drinks, low cover charges, incredible sound system, 3 levels, and a REVOLVING DANCE FLOOR. Yes, you read right a dance floor that actually spins as you dance on it. OFF THE CHAIN! We spent the first 45 minutes as the crowds came in, spinning around the club, like on a Grand runaway. And as the drinks kept pouring, and the floor kept spinning, everyone including myself was having a GREAT time. And YES, the club hit capacity and there was a long line still waiting to get in at 10pm. Big-ups to Harvey and Tim for letting me onto this 5-star party. I was impressed.

My night didn’t end there. I headed to Pulse nightclub near downtown Orlando. And it was okay. Reminds you very much of a South Beach nightclub with multi-rooms and several bars. To my pleasant surprise and just like advertised in D.C., an Andrew Christian underwear fashion show was to happen that night. But unlike Daryl Wilson’s show, this show happened!

Friday night- you all know how that went. If not check out the other blog entry. Friday during the day, I was at Islands of Adventure riding the Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man.

Saturday night, I was ready to party again after a disastrous Friday night at Club Mansion. I decided to buy a $30 ticket to see EnVogue at the Parliament House. If you have never been to the Parliament House, it is a gay resort in the middle of Orlando. The resort has approximately 5 bars, a theater, guest rooms, pool, diner, and other amenities. It is known for it’s happening nightlife resort-side and is located on Orlando’s main drag, Orange Blossom Trail, also with it’s own notorious history. After spending an arm and leg to get into the Sizzle events, I was expecting very little for $30. But honey, the Parliament House laid it on thick! The club was jammed packed. The biggest club in the PH was playing the best in House music, inside. Poolside was a foam party and Funk band, which were really, really good. Next the infamous, Spotlight theater crew and it’s drag queens, wow’d the crowd with their over the top performances. And lastly, EnVogue, with all four members in attendance, rocked the poolside stage to some of their greatest hits and some new songs as well. The divas still got it! They stayed on for a little over an hour. I was extremely happy with the night’s festivities. The only thing that saddened me a little bit as I walked to the car, to head back to the hotel and my early morning flight to Miami; is the thought of the Black Prides that happened thus far this summer and how they all compared to this---second-rate came to my mind.

Dwight Powell, Christopher in Philly, and Daryl Wilson could all learn a few things about putting on a premier events from Gay Days. It had nothing to do with the number of sponsors, or the location. The organizers of Gay Days had three things in mind when they put their events together, variety, diversity and lastly Pride. I say it written in every publication and every event I attended, including the Gay Expo. From the balloons down to the “Obama Pride” stickers being handed out at some of the venues. Some of the event’s were FREE, $5, $15, $30 up to $95, the most expensive parties, such as the Typhoon Lagoon Beach Party. They literally had everything for anyone. You didn’t have to spend a fortune to have a GREAT time. Black Prides, in general, need to step up their game, and be about something more than the bottom line.

Orlando Black Pride: A Hot Mess! Jackie-O and Club Mansion

Orlando Black Pride (OBP) has it kind of rough, as far as being one of the Prides that falls kind of crazy on the Gay Calendar. It’s right after Sizzle weekend in Miami and during the world-famous Gay Days. In addition, OBP has to compete with all the area attractions, Disney World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. With this all in mind, I would think the OBP promoters would work even harder to make sure their events went off without a hitch. But unfortunately, a continuing trend this year, the Black Prides are disappointing.

Friday night, was at Club Mansion with a special appearance by Jackie-O. Club Mansion is a nice spot, parking was at a premium due to the large crowds, and drinks very reasonable. The line was long at first but moved at a good clip. And guess what, the cover charge was only $10 before 10:30pm. No complaints…at least until I got into the club. DJ Surreal- a South Florida DJ, was doing her thang. But for the life of me, I couldn’t understand why everyone was just looking around , not dancing and enjoying themselves. Did I need to remind them that this was a pride event and this was their moment to have a good time, whether you’re straight, gay, lesbian, or transgender? I guess they also didn’t’ realize that due to Orlando law, drinks can only be served until 2am. That is when you sober up and realize the boy you have been looking at all night is a HOT MESS and you decide to call it a night, alone. But I guess most of the party goers didn’t get the memo. Who did get the memo, was the six punks who decided to take it upon themselves to have a HUGE brawl near center stage, which stopped the party and had the MC, Ms. Sexy , yelling “SECURITY, SECURITY!” over the loud speakers and the rest of us getting out the way, so we wouldn’t get hit.

Some pride, and some unity. A Hot Mess! Unlike, many of Daryl Wilson’s celebrity events in D.C., Jackie-O did show up. But that was after an hour and a half of waiting and being told she would be on-stage in a few minutes. Plus she has the nerve to show up on stage with a drink in her hand, giving us the hint that this was not going to be her best performance or going to meet our expectations of being a great show. I guess my clue to leave was when the guy (a cute shawty) next to me, asked me who she was. That was exit cue, Stage right…to the exit!

All I can say is disappointing. I didn’t even bother to attend Saturday night event. But to be honest, I have been going to Orlando for a long time. I have never been to club in Orlando and not see a fight occur. Must be something in the water there. But what made it even worse, was that we were here to celebrate something more than our petty differences; enjoy something we all had in common. We are about to elect a Black President who actually support our causes, the OBP promoters organized a so-so event, and you decide to fight at the club. Show some class, please!

Well..well..well…Sizzle and Memorial Day weekend is now over. And the streets and beaches of paradise are a little bit quieter and a little less congested. I know these Cubans have never seen so many punks converge in one area in their life. So, its time for my report card and grade for this past weekend’s Sizzle events and surrounding events in Miami. Let me give Sizzle its’ grade: C-. Many of you may be asking why such a below average grade. And there are many reasons why…one being this was below average party weekend in Miami.

I guess the first clue that this weekend was not going to be everything I hoped it to be; was when Sizzle promoters sent out that wonderful email approximately three weeks ago stating that they had vacancy in the once sold-out host hotel. I guess some of us got smart and had to decide whether to “ buy food” and “drive to work” or party in Miami. A tough decision, but someone had to make it. I had the wonderful privilege of staying in Room 806 in Hyatt to observe the festivities (Thanks Richard for the early birthday gift). A few of my friends and guests stopped by and made a observation that many had noticed. The hotel was not packed-packed, like it has been in the past. I remember last year walking into the lobby of the Hyatt, and not being able to walk three feet without having to say "excuse me" to some phyne man in my path. But honey, this year, I could have done a round-off and back flip through the lobby. It was a different vibe. Same cute boys, but just not an overabundance of them like years past. My boy, Kevin from Lauderdale said, “Maybe Sizzle is losing it’s edge.” Maybe, but I am not so sure.

The weather….I think he had a hurricane come thru on Saturday. Starting at 11am thru the evening it rained and rained and rained. Not a sprinkle but a monsoon. It’s sucked big time! It was definitely not a beach day. I couldn’t tell you how the Sizzle Beach party was Saturday afternoon because it was raining so hard I couldn’t see my car in the parking lot. The event was supposed to go on rain or shine but I was not about to become no one’s wet rag.

The boys…or rather the men, were definitely on point. Or as my boy from Jersey would say “How was the fellas looking like?” And honey the fellas was looking phyne as hell. Did everyone start working out at the beginning of this year? And the answer is yes. Me and my boy always argue about who looks better the boys of New York or the boys of “elsewhere”. And even though we had a lot of boys from Harlem, the Bx, and the NYC in general, the boys of “elsewhere” won this round. Everybody must have been saving up to get those polo shirts, plaid shorts (which unfornately seems to be in style for one more summer), and those bright white Air Force Ones. But you know we still had those queens who wanted to wear their bath robes during the middle of the day in the hotel lobby, looking for who know what? And of course we, still had those boys who look anorexic with the tight, tight jeans who looked like they skipped every meal for the past month. But overall, an A ++ goes to the fellas who came to South Florida, ya’ll bitches were looking good.

The club scene…If you have ever been to Sizzle you know that every night has a different club that is sponsored by Sizzle. I really didn’t hit the clubs hard until later in the weekend but you know I had my scouts out and about. My boy, Kevin went on Thursday night to Elements and he hated it. He said it was not as packed and the drinks were too high. And for this mixed Italian boy who loves black men, love hanging around black men, love sleeping with black men, I know the club was nothing nice for him, to use such strong words.

Thursday....While the Rainbow family is partying in downtown Miami, there is another party happening in South Beach called unofficially Urban Beach week. During Memorial weekend, the hip-hop heads and celebrities take over South Beach. Thursday night, I braved the streets of South Beach and chilled with the fellas at Urban Beach Week. And as expected, South Beach was packed with beautiful ladies, thugged out boys, with the trade mixed in between. After walking Washington Ave and Ocean Drive and bumping into some old flames, I headed to Twist nightclub. And when I walked in, I knew I had arrived at the right spot. Caramel, brown-skinned, dark-skinned, red-boned, Hershey-chocolate bruthas everywhere. Twist had turned black for the night and for that weekend I heard. If you ever been to Twist you know it is more racially diverse but this weekend is one of those weekend, where the bruthas give it a lot of flavor. And I got a toothache trying to taste them all. Get ya’ll minds out of the gutter, pervs.

Friday....was Metropolis and it was packed I heard. My scout Joseph said he had a great time. His only complaint was the high-priced drinks.

Saturday....was a lazy day due to the rain. I want to show some love to all the fellas, especially Sam from Atlanta who attended my card party. It was a great time. Tre you need to work on your Spades game, you got whooped too many times, you and your sad partner. Late night Saturday, we all headed to Club Boi in Miami. And as expected we had a great time. The music was good; the strippers were good. Who was the stripper from DC? Damn?!! We didn’t spend an arm and leg for the cover and drinks. And despite the rain it was packed. This is my boy, Keith’s favorite spot. He came down from Atlanta after being “stand-by” all day in Hartsfield. He said, “He was glad to be home”. And Club Boi definitely delivered. I didn’t have a scout in SOHO studio, Sizzle’s club for the night, they were all at Club Boi.

Sunday….this is for that boy I say in downtown Miami who didn’t have no draws on, and was swangin from left to right in his sweats and white tee, with his aviator glasses on. I hope you took that monster of yours and headed to Haulover beach with the rest of us. And YES, the beach was packed! This is the day the weather really improved and it was a great day to be on the beach. I guess everyone was tired of the rain and needed to let it hang loose, especially on the nude beach. Ya’ll girls play too much! Sunday night was the best night of Sizzle. That is because the club for that night is Club Space. It is arguably the best club in South Florida, with multiple rooms, bars and a rooftop terrace. And this club does not close until after the sun comes up. And you are literally dancing under the stars. The drinks are high as hell, but it was good. And the club was packed. Voguing in one room, hip-hop in another, it had something for everyone. What I don’t understand was why there was an incredibly long line at 4am when we left the club. And when I say long, I mean long. It was a great party night though.

Monday…another lazy day. Most of us was partied out. I did venture out to Sizzle’s club, Nocturnal for the night. All I have to say is $14 long ice teas…and I had three….I am over Sizzle! The club is nice though. I used to promote for this club and they usually have a very good clientele. The night started off slow but picked up quickly. My friends and I spent most of the night on the roof top terrace debating why we paid $14 for a drink in a little ass cup!

So that is why Sizzle received a C minus from me. Dwight Powell still has a lot to learn in order to call Sizzle a “premier” event. He does not have the celebrities to call his event premier unlike DC and Atlanta prides. Last year, Fantasia graced the stage in Atlanta during Pride. In years past, Memorial Day weekend in DC brought big names such as Jennifer Hudson and Patti Labelle, and this year Stephanie Mills. And Sizzle brought you Brandon “Bscott”….Hmmmm….no disrespect to him because he is fabulous person, but Sizzle is not of the same caliber as these other long-attended Black prides of the nation when it comes to respect, celebrities and venues. If you didn’t notice you attended some of the same venues you did last year for Sizzle. Sizzle needs to re-invent itself to become competitive with other Prides. And honey Mr. Dwight Powell need to come off his high horse and come back down to earth…$14 for a cocktail. This is just not for Sizzle but also at his club, Sprung. The girls are not going to deal with this much longer, without rebelling back to Club Boi. Nevertheless Dwight Powell has a lot to learn. Point blank.

Well ladies and gentlemen…I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. It was fun-filled one here in Miami. Next…on the agenda….Is Sizzle for the 32” waist and under crowd only? and Orlando Black Gay Pride and Gays Days- I will be there next weekend to bring you the haps.

Let me first say i was very very very reluctaunt on doing this post but i could not keep quiet any more and i knew eventually the truth would come out and it has already start to come out but at the end of the day i do stress that Daryl Wilson has not done nothing personally to me and this is not an attack or bashing session on him. This is a review of the 2008 Chocolate City Fest which took place this past weekend during the memorial day weekend festivities.

We are indeed back from the weekend festivities here in Washington DC known as Pride Weekend here. As many of you know and for some of you who dont. DC had 2 seperate events this weekend seperating DC Black Pride. DC Black Pride held their events and DC promoter Daryl Wilson held his which was entitled Chocolate City Fest. Um the weekend overall i must say was interesting and different to say the very least. I guess every year at this time i am in Miami on the beach or would be at Dwight Powell sanctioned Sizzle Miami event, but now being a Washington DC resident i decided to take part in DC since by brother from another tron of whatsthet.com had some much fun last year we swapped place this year so i could expierence the hype of Chocolate City and all of its Chocolate City Men. I was geek up to see all the "advertised" events that were to go on thru out the weekend. Mindu i was warned and warned by several people not to mess with Daryl Wilson because he is a crook and is shady. i will admit Daryl has always been nice to me and has never done anything to me. I promoted his event to the masses told people they need to come and that they would have a great time but everytime i got egg left on my face.

It all first started back in febuary with the Red Party weekend which featured New York from I Love New York it was hyped up as the event to be and thousands would be there i remeber sittin inside of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in downtown dc and and tiffany pollard agent asking me how many people do i think would be there and i said oh a few thousand. When i got there and by the time i left i must say at least 100-150 people were their that entire night. Now on Sunday the event was suppose to take place at Love nightclub and "advertised" again win 500 dollars for dressing in all red contest. i would say when i walked in the building of love which has 4 levels and can hold at least 5,000 people had only 50 people which included the security, DJ and staff and was closed at 1am since no one showed up and the event was to go on for another 2 hrs. That was strike one.

The next would be philly where there were suppose to be an expected 2000-3000 men their and 200 people once again showed up to his events i must admit i didnt get their til 1am and again advertised was Lil Mo and City Gym Boys. City Gym Boys were there but he claims that lil mo performed already and due to low attendance the club which was suppose to close at 3 was closed at 2am. Everyone who came to philly for pride came to christopher events because he is the promoter and everyone is familar with him and he packed the house and did massive promotions for his events.

and lastly strike was this weekend it all started at the International Ballroom where "advertised" there was suppose to be the Andrew Christian Underwear Fashion Show you know in talks wit him he told me that Jensen"Wade" Atwood was goin to be in it and a few other people were goin to be in it and there was goin to be a hot body contest and a first ever east coast j-setting competition. I get to the club at 1am cause my roomie was goin to be apart of the show as well and i get in their and to my surprise it was a descent crowd (500) for the most part and DJ Kool Breeze was doin his thing. But again "advertised events did not take place. NO underwear fashion show, no nothing and only 3 of the advertised 20 strippers. Saturday night was a good event had 6 strippers entertaining the crowd and once again DJ Kool Breeze did his thing. but at 3am after Ms. Raquel Lord did her show there was still no Lil Mo and once again i dragged people and told people to come and i am left looking like the ass. The crowd i would say in attendance was about 1200 but numbers for the weekend were still low in comparison to last years events. Sunday's Day time event at Dave & Busters was cute everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves. I did not attend Love Night Club for 2 reason (a) i was tired from working as well as running around all weekend and (b) i was a lil afraid if no name performer didnt show all weekend i just rightful assume that Ms. Stephanie Mills would not show either but to my surprise and from several reports she was there, most people were there watching the ball that took place at the same time upstairs.

But in closing please for the love of GOD if you are goin to advertise events and say that people are goin to be there please let them show up dnt advertise them if you know weeks and months in advance they are not coming. Again these are my opinion of the weekend and the event over the last few months here in DC and dealing with Daryl.

Don’ts:

1. Show up to Miami with any fur “on it” or “in it“. So, no fur coats, fur collars, or fur boots. IT’S MIAMI, AND WE ARE IN TROPICS! Tank-tops, shorts, and flip-flops rule the day. Expect it to be hot (even at night), sunny, and humid, with an occasional shower.

2. Be in Overtown after dark. This area is northwest of downtown Miami, and even the locals try their best to avoid this area at night. High crime and drug area. I don’t want to see any of ya’ll on the news during Memorial Day weekend.

3. Expect to get any where fast in Miami during Memorial Day weekend. Traffic will be a problem this weekend. Take a lot of patience with you, especially while driving to and from South Beach, where most of the hip-hop heads and celebrities will be hanging out.

4. Be drinking and driving when coming from the beach. Word on the street is that they will be having a DUI roadblock on the McArthur causeway especially at night. You don’t want to spend Memorial Day weekend in Dade County jail.

5. Expect everyone to be in town for Sizzle. There will be a lot of concerts, celebrity basketball games, shows, and star-studded parties in Miami and South Beach this weekend. Memorial Day weekend in Miami is also known as Urban Hip-hop Weekend. A lot of “trade” will be in town for ya’ll girls who are into that type of boys.

6. Be caught in the host hotel lobby “vogueing,” the kids will talk about you for the entire weekend as you pass in the hallway.

7. Be caught “stunting” in Miami. You will be in jail while the rest of us party!

8. Expect to find the love of your life during Memorial Day weekend. The boys will be thick and alot of them will just be looking for action. Sad, but true. You will be greatly disappointed.

9. Expect to be the sexiest dude or gal in Miami this weekend. Miami is full of gorgeous people on a regular weekend and this weekend will be no exception. So leave yo diva attitude at home!

10. Expect to be bored. Miami is full of stuff to do! Make the best of the what we call the “Magic City”!

Do’s

1. Arrive to the club early or you will be paying 30 plus cover charges especially for the Sizzle events. I don’t want to hear some of ya’ll spent the rent money and now facing eviction next month.

2. Visit Club Boi (www.clubboi.com) on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. This club will cost less than most of the clubs and the Sizzle events in Downtown. Free shots, drink specials, and strippers. The club is a short cab ride away from the host hotel. This club will definitely have you partying like a “rock star“, on a “stand-in” budget.

3. Visit Twist on South Beach (on Washington Ave, between 9th and 10th St). This club is world-renowned and has been renovated since last year’s Memorial Day weekend. With it’s very own hip-hop room, you will be pleasantly surprised by the mix of people who come there. Check out the strippers in the Bungalow bar and tell my favorite bartender, Terrance, I said Hello. And guess what , this club is FREE! EVERYDAY OF THE YEAR! And is open to 5am. Come early, there was a line outside of Twist last year.

4. Visit Aventura Mall in North Miami Beach. You can get there by bus from downtown Miami or you can take I-95 and exit on Ives Dairy Road, heading east. Food court, movie theaters, restaurants, and shopping are available in the mall. Be on the look-out, it’s not uncommon to see celebrities shopping right next to you.

5. Bring you patience to South Beach, Parking is hard to find and traffic will be worse. Don’t illegally park, they are known to tow cars heavily this weekend!

6. Visit Bayside Marketplace for something to eat. There is a food court there and is a short Metromover ride from the Sizzle host hotel.

7. Enjoy the beach and water activities. If you never been to beach, this is a "must do". Chill on the South Beach sand, go jet-skiing, snorkeling, and also parasailing. If you are an adventure freak, check out Haulover Beach, the only NUDE beach in Miami-Dade county. It located in North Miami Beach, pretty close to Aventura. The nude and gay section is at the Northern end of the beach. Yes, people do be out there in their birthday suits.

8. Bring your condoms and lube, or pick up some from the South Beach Aids Project which will be at many of the events and clubs throughout town. Play safe! And like I said, there is something for everyone in Miami. You will get lucky!

9. Ask Dwight Powell why is he charging so much for his events, when last week he was charging $5 to get into Sprung. Let me know what he says.

DL vs. Fem: It's time to Battle!

Sorry guys for my absence. I was cruising the Western Caribbean and Mexico and just made it back to the MIA. I hope to have pictures soon from my cruise, and how drunk I was in Mexico…can you say “open bar”? Any way something very interesting happened on the cruise that got my wheels turning upstairs. And I would like to hear your guys’ opinion on a very awkward situation that happened on the cruise.

Here is the situation: I went on the cruise with two friends from the NYC. My best friend Tyson and his friend, Shannon. (Their names have been changed to protect their identity). Tyson is somewhat of a “boy“ sober. And Shannon is a bi-sexual girl. We were sitting down at dinner, the first night of the cruise, with two other couples, a Chinese couple, and another white couple from Queens. As dinner progressed and about 5 cocktails later Tyson’s true side comes out and the more feminine he got. That is how he is. I could see across the table that this started to make the white guy and the Chinese guy very uncomfortable. It was very weird for me seeing all of this play out, but I know how Tyson gets on his way to getting drunk. He goes from somewhat “boy” to straight up “flamer”. And I love him regardless. But it seems to me that Tyson should have calmed it down a bit when he say it was making others uncomfortable at the table. To me it seemed the right thing to do. Tyson would have never acted that way, sober or intoxicated, at his barber in the Bronx. Some people may disagree with me on that. But Tyson’s femininity would draw a positive reaction in an unlikely way during our stay in Mexico.

Even though Tyson’s femininity had a negative vibe at the dinner the night before, it took on another vibe the next day at the beach in Mexico. Of course, they were plenty of DL kats on the cruise. And fortunately, we had plenty of them join us at the beach in Mexico, on our shore excursion. When we went to the beach, we had open bar. Of course, we were all drunk as hell, which brought out Tyson’s femininity once again. And of course, my gaydar was up and me and my friends clocked all the phyne DL kats walking the beach with their girlfriends. But instead of them being uncomfortable with my friend, they embraced it. And in a certain way, being drawn to Tyson’s femininity. Case in point, one of the DL kats who had snuck away from his girlfriend while she was in the restroom, comes over to our section of the beach and asks us what we were doing tonight, and if he could hang out with us, even while Tyson is basically doing high kicks in the sand. It was all so weird. And there was definitely some other guys who wanted to come over but didn’t have the balls or their girlfriends were cock-blocking. It was definitely two extremes where Tyson’s femininity affected others differently.

I still think Tyson should have calmed it down at the dinner table. But would he have gotten the same response at the beach from the DL guys with their girlfriends if he hadn’t acted the way he does. What do you think?

Wow! I appreciate all the comments on the topics “the Battle Has Begun: Sizzle’s Sprung vs. Heavy Weight Club Boi” and “Hold onto your Wallets: The Sizzle Greed Machine is Loose!” There were a lot of good comments and as usual, keep them coming. I wanted to do two things with this post. Discuss a few of the comments and provide a list of alternatives to Sizzle events. Let’s keep it REAL! You have a choice!

It seems from the comments that many of you including other promoters, say the prices are ridiculously high for Sizzle and other Prides. Someone suggested that a way to combat this is to spend your money at the traditionally White Prides. And I agree somewhat with you on this. How can we continue to support our black promoters if we know for a fact they are taking advantage of us? Three points….First, if we (meaning Black folks) start spending money at the White Prides, they will take notice. For example, the Winter Music Conference, which is nor a black event or gay event is held every year in South Beach. Even though this is not a black event, some of the parties and clubs are black and it works well. The white kids do their thing and the black kids are still included and we do our thing. So by saying the white prides and events don’t care about us, is a little off base. We spend our money there, they will care. Money talks!

Second point….How can you argue that Sizzle promoters, or other Black Pride promoters are not being greedy. Let me give you a fine example. Sizzle’s club Sprung cover charge on a regular night is FREE before 11:30 and $12 after that. During Sizzle weekend the cost for the same club is $25 before 11:30, $30 after, and $55 for Express. So you tell me who is getting rip off now? What is the rationale for this? I agree you are not obligated to attend these events, but why would I, when I know what is going on. Most Sizzle patrons are unaware of this fact, and it would create an huge uproar if this info was released to the masses that attend. And yes, the drinks at these clubs are terribly expensive. When you go to the club, take notice of how many people have a drink in their hand and you’ll know why. And I am aware that this happens in DC, ATL, and NYC. But come on…ripping off the same people who have come to support you. It’s a shame and it’s really sad.

Third point…. and I am going to let this topic go…someone stated, Sizzle has a loyal customer base. Hmmm…let me think about that. No! I have spoke to several people from the result of these blog topics that are upset and outrage and feel like they are being taking advantage off. And they are asking, is there anywhere else to go. But of course there is. This is MIAMI, PARTY CENTRAL U.S.A And the only reason most people attend the Sizzle events because they are ignorant of other places to go. Which takes me to the original purpose of the this blog…the alternatives list. Feel free to comment on these places, I think open dialogue especially among the brothers is good. I highly recommend Twist and Club Boi.

The verdict is out on Miami’s newest black gay hangout, Sprung. I had an opportunity to visit Sprung it’s second weekend in existence after hearing the claims of 500+ in attendance, its opening weekend. This must have truly been an exaggeration or someone forgot to tell them to come back. So, it seems that Sprung is receiving a lukewarm reception ahead of Memorial Day weekend festivities.

For a long time Club Boi had been the only game in town on Saturday nights, if you wanted to get down with the get down, with the bruthas of South Florida. And with Sizzle quickly approaching, it is suspect that the “Sizzle Greed Machine” would open up a club, a couple of weeks prior to the Memorial Day weekend. It’s important to note that things have not been “peachy” with Sizzle event promoters and Club Boi, since both vie for the Memorial Day crowds. Club Boi has even gone as far as to place on it’s Memorial Day flyer, “THERE IS ONLY ONE SPOT WHERE YOU WILL HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE FOR UNDER $20:00”, possibly take a stab at Sizzle and it’s ridiculous high cover charges. You know Club Boi will be on my alternatives list if your looking to find somewhere to party for cheap. But with all things, competition is good. Having two clubs competing for your paycheck dollars can only benefit you.

Sprung is part of Metropolis, a series of clubs, all in one complex. And YES, it’s the only gay club in the complex. *Sighs* I see problems on the horizon. The décor and seating areas are nice, the music good, and the drinks moderately priced. “You can see no difference in the crowd from Club Boi” Sebastian says, a Club Boi convert. Yes, you still have the same young punks doing cartwheels, crawling on the floor, battling like they always do, once a good dance song comes on. I did notice a few new faces but nothing out of the ordinary. And it’s worth noting Sprung is more racially diverse than Club Boi. Take it or leave it. The club was half packed, but the vibe was still good. As we always do, we had those who like to be wall flowers, and hold up the wall instead of joining the party. No big deal! I must give Sprung props though when I left the club. As their way of saying thank-you, you receive a free drink card for your next visit which is a nice touch. Club Boi could learn from that. But as an avid party goer, sometimes traveling to other cities just to party, Sprung is like Splash in New York City minus the video screens; like 708 in Atlanta, and the main club in the Parliament House in Orlando with the lighting effects and smoke. So if you are familiar with any of these clubs you will not be overly impressed, but pleasantly surprised.

So I give Sprung a C-. Not quite a C, but almost D. It needs some work to get the crowds that they are looking for. But for now, Club Boi will rein supreme but this battle has just begun….

-been to outer space
-CEOs’ of multi-billion dollar companies
-have conquered golf (a white man’s game)
-performed the first open-heart surgery
-dominates two of the four major professional sporting leagues
-hold mayoral positions throughout the country
-have cracked every major music genre

-own and operate successful businesses

-are the driving force and minds being some of the major tv networks
-AND NOW, We are on the verge of electing our First Black President.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, and especially the gentleman and boys, our days of mindless excuses as to why we can’t succeed as black men are over. We no longer can say that we can’t make it in this white world, because others around us, are. We longer can say we are begin suppressed by the white man, which YES, still continues, but others around us have found a way to succeed despite this. So it’s time for the drug dealers, wanna-be thugs, and those with no ambition to step up to the plate. Get off the corner and make your way to the boardroom. There is no longer an excuse that is valid as to why we as Black men can’t succeed.

I know what I might have say might strike a nerve with some people. It may even prompt a few phone calls and cuss out sessions. But like I said in the beginning, I am going to keep it real. And in doing so, we sometimes have to face things that are upsetting, even if they are about ourselves. I am not naïve to the fact that racism is still alive and well in America and across the world. I am not naïve to the fact that Blacks still can’t walk in some parts of New York City “Up-South” without being harassed or possibly killed. I am very aware of all of this. I remember riding my bike with my two brothers thru Carter Lake, IA, the same state that Barack Obama romped Hiliary Clinton in the Iowa caucus, and being yelled at, called N*****, and having rocks throw at us. But, still we can no longer make excuses for not treating our women like queens, not taking advantage of an educational system which some people have died for, and taking care of our community. Us, Black people, especially Black Men, have always been oppressed in some way, shape or form. However, there is something in our genes that stretches back to the slave days that allows us to overcome adversity, bounce back, stronger, and better. So Black men, put the down timbs for one sec, stop sagging for half a day, no excuses, buy a suit that fits, and lets storm the boardroom, this is Black Corporate takeover! Black men are back and here to stay!

DL Chronicles Series Renewed for 2nd Season on Here TV!
This is great news: here! TV has just announced that it will bring back the sexy anthology series "The DL Chronicles" for a second season. It will premiere on the network in late 2008 and feature 5 new episodes.

The series, recently nominated for a GLAAD Media Award in the category of “Outstanding Television Movie or Mini-Series,” is the first television show to center on the “DL” phenomenon in the gay community. The DL (short for “down-low”) refers to straight men of color who live their everyday lives as heterosexuals, often married to women, but engage in discreet gay sex and gay relationships on the periphery.

The show was created by Quincy Lenear and Deondray Gossett. The network describes the series this way: "...Not only sexy and provocative, but also offers a socially-conscious insight into the lines between sexuality and perceived socially acceptable behavior within the African-American community. It provides an unapologetic view of intimacy between men of color and explores these scintillating stories with honesty and integrity.
"

Among the stories told in the upcoming season are that which involve a high school student’s newfound gay relationship and its effects on his homophobic father, a reverend who questions his sexual identity and religious beliefs upon meeting a handsome stranger, and an interracial love story about two guys from different sides of the tracks.

So as my jam came on i hopped on the dance floor and started shaking my ass and grooving to the beat and in my element as i zoned out in to la la land. I quickly came into realization as i felt a tight grip wrapped around my waist. so i continued to danced as we now were both in synccornized as we stepped to the beat. i was also a lil afaid to turn around and see who was behind me because it felt so good to be held by another being not to mentioned he smelled good too. so as the song ended and they started playing tencho i stopped dancing and glanced around at my dance partner i couldnt believe it in a million years that it was boy who i firsted peeped as he walked in the door. Me i had on a new york hat backwards a new york yankee jersey loose fit jeans and my timbs and hair braided i was definately on point. so in my mind as i was staring into his light hazel eyes and his killer smile with pretty white teeth i asked myself why me of all people is he dancing with me. As soon as i finished the thought he grabed me by the thin of my waist and brought me close and whispered your probably wondering why i am dancing with you?
I said why yes why are u, i mean i dont mind at all but why me i am sure there all fine men to your liking then lil ole me. his response that may be the case but your the only one is the bar that is attractive and not going crazy over me. All i could do is smile and turn around and dance some more as another jam came on. So we danced for the next hour non-stop sippin on boy punch through out. So after being tired of dancing i whispered into his ear and said i was leaving handed him my business card and was getting ready to exit the club when a glass bottle came across my head. Three detectives were found not guilty Friday morning on all charges in the shooting death of Sean Bell, who died in a hail of 50 police bullets outside a club in Jamaica, Queens.

During the 26 days of testimony, the prosecution sought to show, with an array of 50 witnesses, that the shooting was the act of a frightened, even enraged group of disorganized police officers who began their shift that night hoping to arrest a prostitute or two and, in suspecting Mr. Bell and his friends of possessing a gun, quickly got in over their heads.

Top 25 Things That Killed Urban Music

1. The End of the "Event" Album: There was a time when albums encompassed an era that included a look, a feel, and a style that informed an artist's videos and live performances for as long as they (or the label) could squeeze revenue from a project by releasing singles. The "event" album can chiefly be credited to Jacksons Michael and Janet, who have entire timelines built around the idea of a "Thriller Era" or a "Rhythm Nation Era". Nowadays, instead of treating albums as what they are (a collection of songs with one unifying theme) artists are more likely to seek out the most ubiquitous Hip Hop beatmakers of the moment and record over a hundred songs from which to "pick" singles. Also, when you have artists that are too scared to release music with a healthy 3-5 year gap in between, the lines to between albums begin to blur, and the eras become indistinguishable, rendering them null.

2. Big Name Hip Hop Producers: With respect due to the beatmakers that introduce a track with the name of their production imprint, ad-lib all over it, and insert themselves as guest rappers 50% of the time, they overshadow the actual vocalist of a song. We certainly don't begrudge any of them the right to employment, but when an artist has to do an inventory of who produced her project to qualifiy it instead of telling us what the album is about, we have to take exception. Reality check: If you're trying to goad me into a purchasing your album because you have a Pharrell beat on it and I'm a Pharrell fan, then that's the only song I'm buying. Your album has to have legs of its own.

3. Deaths of The Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac: You can probably draw a direct line from the deaths of Biggie and 'Pac to the current state of Hip Hop. The two of them cultivated a style that even a decade later is re- and misappropriated to the nth. Perhaps if they were still alive, they'd have pushed the genre forward. Or maybe they'd be wack and irrelevant. Hey, at least they died while they were still good.

4. "Neo-Soul": We understand the emergence of the "neo-soul" genre as a response to the growing commercialization of modern R&B. But even the artists lumped into this category began to the see that the term was as much a marketing ploy as the very things they eschewed. The language used to describe these artists ranged from "organic" to "avant garde" and any press materials would claim that he/she looks up to Stevie, Marvin and Donnie. And don't stand too close to the stage lest you get burned by the candles and frankencense! Before long, the audience would be fooled and we would either grow to love or loathe this music, defending the art of its purveyors and loudly wondering why they couldn't move as many units as their mainstream counterparts. Simply put, "neo-soul" has become a term used by people to describe music they respect but would never buy.

5. Reality TV: Aside from the manufactured Pop idols that are struggling to stay signed within their prize contracts, we have to question the motives of Sean Combs, Robin Antin and Missy Elliott, who have all aped the reality television format to generate acts for their own stable of artists. To be sure, reality TV has replaced proper Artist Development as a means for these entrepreneurs to cash in, stroke their egos and embarrass people who, 9 times out of 10, deserve it. Speaking of which, what's O'so Krispie doing?

6. Lazy A&R Departments: Did you know that A&R people are also responsible for Artist Development? Probably not, since these days a newly-signed artist is more likely to be stripped of their identity and given one that falls in step with what's popular or, even worse, none at all. Take Cheri Dennis for example. While her album has a respectable amount of solid R&B tracks, we still don't know who Cheri Dennis is, what sets her apart from everyone else or even what she sounds like. But, she has earned the distinction of being signed to her label for nearly a decade with no album to speak of. Did the A&R department utilize that time by playing Spades? Probably.

7. Scarface and The Untouchables: Okay, rapper, we get it, Scarface and The Untouchables are the greatest movies ever made; your life in celluloid, even. But, if you look close enough, you'll come to learn that you are neither Pacino or De Niro and should stop emulating them by using audio clips from the films in your interludes and the script in your lyrics. Too many of you are still doing this after all these years. Also, tell members of your crew to stop calling themselves "Ness" and "Nitti". Just, please, cut it out. Thank you.

8. Thugs: Not only do we have "Studio Thugs" that use de Palma films to inform their image (see above) but there's the "Corporate Thug" (robs an artist of his publishing and signs him to a hellified contract he could never fulfill) and the questionable "R&B Thug", which happened somewhere between R. Kelly and Jodeci and continues to this day. Along the way, labels got the bright idea that the way to a woman's heart was by selling drugs and beating up people. Sexy! This trend has also given rise to something else we'll never understand: "R&B Beef", in which two singers talk trash about each other to the media. Unfortunately, this doesn't result in a "sing-off" but pretty much makes everyone involved look kind of retarded.

9. Crime: Between violating probation, not paying child support, being pulled over and caught with an ounce of weed or cocaine, assaulting nail technicians, shooting people, tossing concertgoers off the stage, committing perjury, tax evasion, and urinating on minors, we have to wonder if being a good artist means being a bad citizen.

10. Ringtones: "Real Music Ringtones" were created as a way to distinguish your ringing cellular from someone else's while also bringing you closer to your favorite artist. Unfortunately, the labels realized this was the only way to generate revenue and started making music for the sole purpose of selling ringtones. Now, we have stripped-down keyboard beats and grunts and "yaahhs" instead of lyrics. Is that my cellphone ringing or yours? We'll never know, because we both downloaded Soulja Boy.

11. Lack of Music Programs in Schools: Programs like Garage Band have not only made producers lazy, but undercut the importance of immersing young would-be musicians in music history as well as basic composition. Unless a popular musician was trained in the church, they probably lucked into a contract without knowing how to write, play an instrument, or worse, sing a note.

12. BET (and by extension its corporate owner) is on a mission to not only destroy urban music, but poison the perception of Black people in the process. If we were to use this network as a guide (and people unfortunately do), we would believe that "drug dealer > rapper > pimp" is a logical career path, alcoholic beverages can be used as bodysplash, women of exotic or indeterminate race are the standard of beauty, darker-skinned women are only valuable if they have a big ass and a tiny waist, a person's worth can only be determined by what they drive and what they wear, you ain't sh*t if you're over 30, and a week's worth of debauchery and decadence can be undone with a Sunday marathon of religious programming. It's funny because it's true.

13. The Radio: Used to be, you would turn on the radio and hear a variety of artists with a variety of sounds. But due to the "Clear Channeling" of Urban Radio, you'll hear a T-Pain song followed by 15 minutes of commercials, followed by a song featuring T-Pain, some shucking and jiving by unbearable radio personalities for five minutes, then something that resembles a T-Pain song, but isn't because just about everyone sounds like T-Pain now. And it's probably a commercial.

14. Spineless Club DJs: If you're going out to a club, you might as well sit in the house and blast the radio instead of paying the inflated cover charge. Once upon a time, DJs were tastemakers, but now so many of them are afraid they'll clear the floor by spinning something new that they just play album versions of songs people are tired of but are too drunk to notice. Then, they add insult to injury by showing off their "skills" with poorly-timed scratches, blends that don't line up and screaming over the music. And consider yourself lucky if you happen upon a DJ with ACTUAL! VINYL! RECORDS!

15. Mainstream Hip Hop Publications: Back in the 90's, holding one of these rags in your hands was like holding a monthly Bible to all things Hip Hop and R&B. Now, they've all been relegated to chasing blogs and reiterating things we already knew weeks ahead instead of properly utilizing the print medium to do something unique. Changes in personnel and ownership aside, they were already marching towards irrelevance. Even the covers suck now, but you probably won't get the damn thing delivered on time in order to find out.

16. Bloggers: Guilty as charged! Trifle few of us are qualified to be writing about music with any authority, especially since most of the people behind blogs haven't been alive long enough to have a healthy perspective on the subject. Although it can be argued that record companies rely on blogs for buzz, most of the music championed by popular websites is the same music that would've gotten attention anyway. Also, we have to point out that the commenting system has turned discussions about music into an unholy war of "haters" versus "stans", where everyone is an expert on what they hate or love, but have no concept of anything else including real life. Oh, and providing your readers with the URL to full album leaks doesn't "help" the artist.

17. Youtube & Myspace: On the Internet, everyone is a star (thank you, thank you). But while sites like Myspace and Youtube can provide mainstream and indie musicians with a means of cultivating and connecting with an audience, it becomes a chore to sort through the muck of people with a webcam and a login classifying themselves as "artists". And damn you all to Hell for having the crap you made in Grandma's basement on auto-play.

18. Singing Rappers, Acting Rappers & Rapping Athletes: We'll keep this short. Every now and then you'll happen upon someone that has been able to organically transition from one career to another. Will and Latifah come to mind. To everyone else (coughCurtiscough), stay in your lane. Again, we don't begrudge anyone the chance to make some extra ends; it just shouldn't be at the expense of the audience.

19. The End of Real Singing Groups: Once upon a time, you not only had singing groups that weren't put together by a reality show, but wherein each member contributed a distinct voice or purpose to the group. Sometimes they had members that barely sang a note, but who actually produced or wrote the song. Point is, throwing a bunch of strangers in a house with one phone and giving them makeovers doesn't create synergy. Also, name a recent singing group that wasn't created for a television show or for the purpose of launching someone's solo career. Exactly.

20. "Kanyitis" is a temporary, yet frequent, illness that afflicts singers and rappers alike, wherein an artist waits until the precise moment they are in front of a camera, microphone or reporter to say something shocking and stupid, which will then be quoted by bloggers and searched on Youtube ad nauseum. Then the artist has to explain what they "really" meant, but by that time everyone already thinks they're nuts and doesn't care about a retraction.

21. Death of Aaliyah: Not that Aaliyah took an entire genre of music with her to the grave, but it can be argued that her passing made way for a wave of young, pretty dancers with okay voices and no personality. Only difference between them and Aaliyah is, Aaliyah had personality along with talent, ideas and a willingness to experiment. Also, she wasn't so full of herself.

22. Money: Even worse than artists releasing garbage because they know it sells is the audience's obsession with how much an artist makes. Unfortunately, we've given lack of artistry a pass because someone's "making that paper", which totally undermines the hard work of true creative talents that are constantly writing, recording, and performing. When I buy an album I don't want to hear an entrepreneur, which brings us to--

23. Products & Brands: Whether rappers and singers are inserting the names of designer alcoholic beverages into their lyrics or cable companies are inserting rappers and singers in their ad campaigns, things come to a point where we need to start realizing how owned these artists are. There's a thin line between businessperson and corporate slave. We'd also like to reiterate a fact that has been pointed out time and time again over the past 10 years: If you can't pronounce it, why should we care that you're wearing it, driving it, or drinking it?

24. People That Aren't in Any Way Associated with Music: Opportunities in the industry are built on connections and there's almost never been a time when someone didn't rise to stardom on someone else's coattails. But now, things have gotten way out of hand. Why be an actual artist when you can be someone that danced in videos, screwed a bunch of rappers and got a book deal? Or, you can be a butler or Executive In Charge of Umbrella-Carrying? Or, worse, be the "Fifth Mic" guy on stage and reliable instigator? Who needs a recording studio?

25. Teenagers: Young people have always had the power to determine trends in all genres of music, which is why corporations defer to them. However, today's teenagers seem to be slightly more insipid than they were in previous generations and definitely have a shorter attention span. Whether it's the teens themselves driving the garbage labels are releasing, or the labels that are leading teens down a path of ignorance, is totally up for debate. It's the chicken/egg question in its purest form.

Star Jones has filed for divorce from her husband, Al Reynolds, after three-and-a-half years of marriage, a rep for the former "View" co-host has confirmed to Access Hollywood.

"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. Students suspended for skipping class to meet Obama
SCRANTON, Pa. - Two high school seniors in Scranton, Pa., are paying a high price for their interest in politics.

Colin Saltry and Joey Daniel say they skipped gym class on Monday to rush over to a diner where Sen. Barack Obama's motorcade had just pulled in for an impromptu breakfast stop.

The two met Obama, and they say he even signed excuse slips for them to show their teachers. That didn't work. Saltry and Daniel got one-day suspensions for leaving school grounds, and Saltry has been ordered to resign as senior class president.

Saltry says it was worth being suspended to meet Obama, but he didn't expect to be bounced from his class presidency.

Assistant Superintendent William King says the rules are clear, and adds that if the students had approached a teacher about wanting to leave campus, they probably would have been given permission.

Has Black Bananas Become the New "Sugars"???

This weekend I ventured out to a new and upcoming hot spot, "Black Bananas", in Fort Lauderdale, located off Powerline and McNab Rd. I heard about this bar and that is was being dubbed the new "Sugars" on Friday nights for the grown and sexy crowd. If you are familiar with Miami nightlife, Sugars was the happening 21 and older spot, Fridays, in North Miami Beach. If you can recall Ms. Alice manned the door handing out her infamous drink tokens to some of South Florida's finest black men. Unfornately this spot closed a few years back and Black Bananas is trying to leer that crowd back.

I was pleasantly surprised with this bar and it has the potentional to be the new "Sugars" even though it's sort of a drive from Miami, but well worth it. The club was not filled to capacity, but I am sure this will change as word gets out. The crowd was mature unlike Club Boi and had a unique type of vibe. Some of the old "Sugars" patrons were also in the house. DJ Surreal had everyones' butts moving with her mix of R&B, hip-hop, and old school and unlike the old Sugars, there is actually a nice lounge area overlooking the dance floor. I am adding this to my "visit real soon" list as the clientele was definitely on point. Check out this spot on Friday nights as the new "Sugars" has arrive....

I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone of the bloggers who attend the 1st annual Blogger Family Reunion in Baltimore,Maryland this past weekend i must say everyone mashed well and there was no drama. I must admit i was a lil apprehensive and neverous because i didnt know what to expect from the rest of the 11 black gay men concregating and putting a side any shadiness. I just wanted to thank ShawnQt,Fuzzy,Mr. Jones,Darius T. Williams,Coco Rican,E,That dude right there,Joey Bahamas,J_Shanlin,Ty,and Promisious X.

We did it bitches who would imagine 12 black gay men getting along oh so well over a weekend and will will be back next year April 17 thru 19 2009 in San Juan,Puerto Rico. So get ready bitches cause we goin to bring the heat.lol

The festivities started out round 730pm friday night at the host hotel the hilton Homewood Suites hotel at the inner habor which over looked the harbor. The evening was filled with laughter,drinks, and discussions ranging from relationships,politics, each other blogs and other well know blogs out there as well as other random stuff it was a good time had by all into the wee early morning hours.

On Saturday there was a very late brunch which was cooked by chef fuzzy who threw done in the kitchen and we watched the Cavs vs Wizards game on tv as we discussed more random topics and enjoyed each other company. kudos to fuzzy for doin his thing in the kitchen. Later that evening we drove down to Washington DC to a sports bar called momo's in the U Street District. There will danced,drank and had a good time, afterwards we had walked a couple of blocks over to Annie's Paramount Stake House which is very gay oriented and a good place to eat when you come to DC and is still in the U Street Area.

Because by the time you get back home you are going to be flat broke, overdraft on your bank account, and if you don’t watch it, some of ya’ll will have an eviction notice the second week in June.

The Sizzle greed machine is coming and the vast majority of us is going to get mugged. Sizzle has released the cover charges for its day and night events and if you haven’t seen it, I strongly suggest you take a look. I will give you a second…..don’t forget to come back….(www.sizzleMiami.com).Did you need to catch your breath after that LONG gasp like I did. And how convenient that this information is released by the Sizzle greed machine a little over a month before the event. Too late to cancel those hotel reservations, too late to tell Delta “Honey, they have lost their mind in Miami”, and cancel those airlines tickets, unless you were smart and got refundable tickets. But who has money for that. If you have not done the math, let me do it for you…if you were to attend every Sizzle event, including the Booze Cruise, Queens of Comedy, Beach Party, etc. and go to the club every night BEFORE 11:30pm, this little ching-dig in Miami is going to cost you little over 300 dollars, just to party. YES, you say right Three-Zero-Zero. And that is before you had your first cocktail at the bar. Now if you are one of those slow pokes who like to take his time to get to the club, you will be paying much more. And then for you impatient queens and thugs who don’t like to wait in line, you will be paying upwards of $50 per night to rocket pass everyone else. You might be thinking that is not all that bad, it’s Memorial Day weekend in Miami and I only live once. You forgot one thing fool…you haven’t paid for where you going to sleep (if not at the host hotel), your rental car (how else you going to get to Aventura mall), and you still haven’t eaten.

I feel so bad for our out of town visitors. YES, the economy is in a recession. I expect smaller crowds in Miami because a lot of people don’t have it like we all did, a year ago. YES, blame Bush! You seen a lot of this if you attended the Winter Music Conference in Miami a few weeks back. The crowds were not as big as last year, the clubs were not as crowded, but it was still an okay time. I find it appalling that the Sizzle Greed Machine is trying to rob me. Now, if they were saying we are donating some of profits to the South Beach Aids Project, Habitat to Help Humanity, or Ms Jenkins to get some new dentures, I would feel a little bit better. But I know that is not what is happening or what is going to happen. For those of you, who will be in town and if you figure already, your funds will be on the low side I will list some alternatives and places to go as Memorial Day weekend draws closer. Miami is a BIG PARTY CITY. And, fortunately for you, Sizzle is not the only game in town that weekend. I will be reporting on some of the events of Sizzle. But luckily for me, I live here in Miami in my downtown apartment, I can leave my car in the garage and walk to the club, and my deep freezer is fully stocked. I am going to hold on tight to my purse because I refuse to be rob-blind by a greedy Sizzle machine.

Greetings from Miami. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. The name is King D. I will be the Miami connection or correspondent for lauderdaleboi1500 on this blog site. Like he was a good guy and you didn’t realize it until the relationship was over? This is gonna be big of me to say this. I have never ever said this in my whole life. Ever. But yea, I did let one good guy get away and that was Marlon Wayans. See no one knew! And it’s funny because I met Marlon when I was 20, when I had just got in TLC and you remember that movie “Mo Money”? I remember we were on tour with Hammer and we had went to the movies and I saw him in that movie. I was like “Oh My God he is soooo cute!!!” So we went out that night and I ended up seeing him that night. And I met him for the first time and we just clicked instantly.

Well you know what’s funny. I will say this and I know it’s gonna be everywhere. Lord, Tameka gonna be trying to fight people. But honestly I will say, although Marlon is the one that got away, Usher is the one that I truly did love. Like that was truly my first adult love. I love him very much and I will always love him. I don’t know how you love someone that deeply and just stop loving them. I’m not in love with him anymore but I can’t say that I don’t love him anymore. And of course I do want him to be happy and all but me and him had what I never had in any of my other relationships, and that was chemistry. Even in that picture that you have up. Any picture that you see with the two of us, you see it. It’s just there! I could be standing next to him til this day and people will be like “Wow”. It’s not that you are wondering if we are back together again, it’s just that we look like we just go together.

AOL Black Voices have confirmed that R&B star Brandy has indeed signed with Epic Records, with plans to release a new album by the year's end. why is that dudes say sweet nothings and in the end they fail to be the MAN of their worlds. i mean in general are black gay men able to have long-term relationships. The longest relationship for me was 2.5 years and it ended due to the fact i fell out of love with a really good man. I mean he did his best to make me happy but after 2.5 years the sparks just once their anymore. Yes maybe there could have been things to done to SPICE IT UP but in the end i gave up and let it go. was i wrong for doing that? Since then i have tried to find love in all the wrong places. I did find one person since that last one i loved but in the i was broken hearted and left disappointed. So now i ask myself what is left for me.
