Fire & Ink @ DC Pride 5/26/07

So much to do if you are in the nation's capital this weekend for DC Black Pride Weekend. Fire & Ink Inc. will be having several authors in the house at DC Host Hotel on Saturday May 26 from 2-4pm. The list of authors are as followed.

Come hear some of the latest black LGBT authors read from their new works: Laurinda Brown, Walk Like a Man; Michael-Christopher, From Top to Bottom; Doug Cooper-Spencer, This Place of Men; Wyatt Evans, Nothing Can Tear Us Apart; Clarence J. Fluker, Dorothy Harris and Tonya Parker, from Spirited: Affirming the Soul and Black Gay/Lesbian Identity; Lee Hayes, A Deeper Blue; G. Winston James, The Damaged Good; Lisa C. Moore, from Voices Rising; Michelle Sewell, Growing Up Girl; and Tim’m T. West, Flirting.

In Spirited: Affirming the Soul and Black Gay/Lesbian Identity, more than 40 writers address the question of how we, as same-gender-loving black people, affirm ourselves as sexual and spiritual people. These sacred narratives are a canon for our survival—holy texts proclaiming the divinity of our lives, the righteousness of our love, and the sanctity of our being. Spirited is a must-read for those on a journey toward spiritual and self-acceptance.
