Atlanta Black Pride Weekend 2007 was an amazing weekend that i will never forget. It was truly a family reunion for me seeing alot of old friends and making a few new friends and seeing people i wasnt expecting to see. I want to thank Kenneth Jones the president of In The Life ATL & his staff for helping to put on the largest black gay pride event of all the pride festivites. Atlanta showed much southern hospitailty and was very warm and inviting. I dont know if it was just me but the lesbian community came out in numbers, i have never seen so many lesbians at one event in my life it was very shocking and good to see. I mean my brothers were there in numbers to but my sistahs shut it down. The hightlights over the weekend for me personally was both on saturday and sunday.
On Saturday i ventured on over to the host hotel the sheraton on courtland where i took part in several activities from the black martketplace where i saw a few authors and purchased a few books. that was a good expierence and it was also good to see alot of vendors out and the community supporting them. After walking through there it was off to the underground where i listen to several artists at the Montreux Jazz Festival and got to me a great artist in Mr Gordon Chambers who is a very down to earth openly black artist who has worked with Whitney houston, madonna and a few others just a name a few who has his current cd LOVE STORIES you have to get it. Then it was back to the Sheraton Hotel where i took part in the Film Fest and got to watch the 2 new episodes of DL Chronicles Boo and Mark and i must say that if you have not seen any of the DL Chronicles episodes you got to watch them it was an amazing expierence to watch the episodes to a pack room of other Black Gay Men!
Sunday it was off to piedmont Park to take part in the Unity Picnic were thousands of Same Gender Loving people said there proud to be Black & Gay and every major city was also represented. Miami, ATL,New York,Chicago,LA,DC just to name a few. The j-Sette contest was fierce as well as the all the performers who took part in the concert. Todd Vaughn and a few others hosted by Tweetie and Smoov from MTV. Also during the picnic Maurice Jamal the director of Ski Trip which everyone has seen on LOGO channel made a few announcement the first being the cast of the movie B Boy Blues the novel by James Earl Hardy. A partial listing of the cast includes Clik Magazine Model of the year Maurice Murrell, Brandon Deshazor(Google him 2 find out more), Kairon John(Google him 2 find out more, and Monte Franks(Google him 2 fnid out more) just to name a few. As well as named the cast of Ski Trip the series and some of the name of that cast include Frenchie Davis of American Idol, Karamo from the Real World and PORN STAR TIGER TYSON! yes porn star Tiger Tyson is now an actor. And Finally the last bit of news is Dirty Laundry the Movie is finally finally FINALLY! hitting the silver screen on Dec 28 2007.
