Learning Tracks

Advocacy - These workshops will focus on the need for more Black men to stand up and address issues that are paramount in our communities that directly impact the Black community. Session attendees will be equipped to address issues of homophobia, stigma, communicate about Black Gay issues, and other aspects to assure the Black Gay community is not disrespected, disregarded or misrepresented.

Leadership – These workshops will focus on building leaders within the Black community. Leaders are those that are not afraid to stand and be counted among the Black SGL community. Not all leaders are out and out Black persons, but their commitment is to the cause even if they cannot publicly acknowledge their sexual orientation. These workshops will address how to become comfortable in our own skin to stand in the Light and be who we are if that is where you want to stand: Black and Gay, Homosexual, Black Same Gender Loving, etc.

Health & Wellness – These workshops will address health and wellness issues that are specific to Black men with regard to their sexual orientation. These workshops will address issues of HIV/AIDS, but also other health and wellness concerns that plague the Black male experience; hypertension, stress, depression, prostate cancer, drug and alcohol abuse, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.

Spirituality – These workshops are designed to address the issues surrounding Black SGL men and their spirituality. These workshops will address the realities of being Black, Gay and Christian, What the Bible states about homosexuality, Does God love SGL people?, AIDS is not God’s punishment for our sexuality, etc.

Relationships – These workshops will address one of the most difficult aspects of being Black and Gay in relationships and how to maintain a good one.We will address the multitude of issues surrounding relationships and being a Black SGL man. These workshops will address interracial dating, intergenerational dating, sero-discordant relationships, sero concordant relationships, tops and bottoms, who’s in charge, open relationships, monogamy in relationship, is monogamy a reality in Black gay relationships, etc.

I will be presenting at this conference as well.
