The Closet Returns

THE CLOSET IS BACK... AND BETTER THAN EVER!!!
The CLOSET is an informative, hypnotic and compelling DVD dramatic series which grows on a viewer in the most important way a good drama series should: by encouraging curiosity about the growth and fate of key characters. One might easily dismiss this self-funded independent original drama series as a mere catalog of the problems that dog some individuals struggling with their sexual identity. But patience rewards those who watch The CLOSET's newly formatted episodes, which offers informative, yet entertaining topics for its mature audience. It takes an in depth look into the lives of a multicultural array of men -- Emory Lawson, Zachary Sledge, Isaiah Edwards, Nathaniel C. Bullock, Brice Hennedy and Ricardo Iglesias.

The CLOSET Platinum Edition is quite different from Diversity That Bonds, Part 1 & Part 2 which was released in March 2004. Some of you purchased the entire series for a little over $220, some purchased each dvd for $18.99 - $24.99. Several pre-order Part 3 & Part 4. But only Parts 1 & 2 were released. That's because just before Part 3 was to be released Q Television Network wanted the series to air on their network. Maurice Townes & Kevin F. Allen, of SENWOT NELLA PRODUCTIONS, the creators of the series, welcomed the offer and they closed the deal eight months later. During those eight months customers including myself were waiting for Part 3 to be released. As part of the Q Television Network contract the network would receive ownership of "Diversity That Bond" and all of it's obligations and responsibilities including at that time its current customers base and any processing of refunds. Several episodes of the series was broadcasted and received quite well by its small audience. While customers still waited for the release of Part 3 and/or a refund. Senwot Nella Productions alone with Q Television Network investors were waiting to close the deal with Direct TV. Days before signing with Direct TV, the executive staff skipped town with millions of dollars from hundreds of investors and companies, as well as, the rights to several television series including Diversity That Bonds.

Maurice and Kevin were determined to get their series back, and they did - after 19 months of litigation, the decision was reached Senwot Nella Productions gets to keep the series main title, characters and storylines not broadcasted. All existing scenes and storylines had to be modified; nothing could remain the same. Maurice and Kevin were very pleased with the ruling, so they re-invented the series and developed the Platinum Edition, which have 3 volume box sets and a total of 10 episodes.

Filled with DRAMA the series backdrop is Atlanta, Georgia, during December, a wealthy Architect, Nathaniel C. Bullock is an evil lying snake of a man, who's playing a very wicked wicked game of pleasing his neighbor and her husband. Nathaniel's beautiful wife, Sharon is beginning to suspect he's having an affair - but she never thought it would be on her doorstep. Can't wait to see what she's going to do now that she's confronted him on their anniversary night, 'of all nights'. I still think she should have slapped him, but Carol does an excellent job of that on the North patio. The high drama continues with Ramona Lexx continuing her evil bitchy ways of blackmailing for corporate gain. This time Zachary Sledge, the radio personality is her target. With strong threats to expose his "special friend", Quincy, to the newspapers, Zachary's left speechless… it's going to be interesting to see exactly how Mr. Sledge will get himself out of this one. Emory Lawsen and his spouse of twelve years, Brandon Pullman, are the series loving couple. As most couples their mellow drama involves Emory hanging out with the groomsmen and not coming home to be presented with their son, Tyler's report card. Tyler's a high achiever attending a private school. Can we say, bourgeois. Their 30-year-old, virgin friend, Donnell drops by their home seeking advice after his "boyfriend", Malcolm. Malcolm shows up unexpectedly, drunk and ruin's Donnell's perfect dinner date with Samantha. Reverend, Doctor Isaiah Edwards shows more skin than a male stripper. His character is the most hypocritical character I've every seen in any series. One moment he's waking up with a man and the next he's expressing his "body is the Lord's temple" - not to mention the thoughts he has in his church office would make even Satan himself blush. Meanwhile, Sheldon a college-aged cutie who's attending Emory University making wonderful grades is living with his parents who share different views about his homosexuality. His mom, Clara, is finding it quite difficult to accept his lifestyle while his Dad, Walter is comfortable with it. Ricardo joins the cast as Sheldon's love interest and Nicholas' half brother…we find out Nicholas is half Mexican.

If you've seen Parts 1 & 2 you're still going to have to start from the beginning of this Platinum Edition to be pulled into the cleverly bed of logic, woven into provocative storylines destined to interest adults within all demographics. There is a noticeable improvement in the production value of the series. The storylines pulls you down a path of wanting more and more only to leave you just as a true soap opera would with major surprises and cliffhangers.
